A survey of over 1,000 European CEOs has found that exposure to climate change risk is the fastest-growing threat to businesses, with 24% believing their companies will be highly or extremely exposed to its impact over the next five years. This compares to 14% on a one-year outlook. CEOs’ exposure to other risks, such as macroeconomic volatility and geopolitical conflict, is expected to decrease. Climate change has now become one of the chief concerns for CEOs alongside macroeconomic risk, geopolitical conflict, inflation, and cybersecurity risks over the next five years. 75% of EU CEOs are implementing initiatives to reduce emissions, compared to 59% in the US and 70% in APAC.
