Lufthansa Group has joined the First Movers Coalition (FMC), which aims to reduce emissions by decarbonizing heavy industry and transport, accounting for 30% of global emissions. The coalition, led by the World Economic Forum and US Department of State, comprises 76 companies with $12 billion in 2030 purchase commitments for green technologies. Lufthansa’s commitment will help develop sustainable aviation fuels and reduce CO2 emissions from aviation. The FMC aviation sector aims to replace at least 5% of conventional jet fuel demand with sustainable aviation fuels or use zero-carbon emitting propulsion technologies by 2030. Existing members include Airbus, Boeing, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines.
