Exchange Publishes Consultation Paper on Enhancement of Climate Disclosure under its ESG Framework

The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong has released a consultation paper seeking feedback on proposals to improve climate-related disclosures under the ESG framework. The proposed changes include mandating all issuers to disclose climate-related information in their ESG reports and introducing new disclosures aligned with the ISSB Climate Standard. The proposal aims to improve the sustainability journey of issuers and strengthen Hong Kong’s position as a trusted platform for capital raising. Interested parties can provide their views on the consultation paper by answering a questionnaire on the HKEX website before July 14, 2023. The proposal aligns with the TCFD recommendations and outlines comprehensive climate disclosures under governance, strategy, risk management, metrics and targets, and remuneration. The Exchange has proposed interim provisions for some disclosures for the first two reporting years from January 1, 2024.
