Lowe’s has announced plans to install rooftop solar panels at 174 of its store and distribution center locations across the United States, with 20 sites already in operation. The solar panels will provide around 90% of the energy usage at each location, helping Lowe’s to reduce its operational emissions and achieve its target of being powered by 50% renewable energy by 2030. Partnerships with DSD Renewables, Greenskies Clean Focus, and Infiniti Energy will enable the installations to be carried out in locations across California, Illinois, and New Jersey. This investment in rooftop solar panels is part of Lowe’s wider commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, and follows the company’s earlier success in reducing its scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2025, four years ahead of schedule.
