European Energy, along with Novo Nordisk and the LEGO Group, has made a commitment to use e-methanol as a lower-carbon alternative to fossil-based plastic in their respective industries. E-methanol will be produced by European Energy using renewable energy and biogenic CO2, and will be used for plastic production by Novo Nordisk in medical devices, and by the LEGO Group in selected elements of its products. The companies plan to invest in technologies that facilitate knowledge sharing and accelerate progress in the industry. The e-methanol will be produced in Denmark and the first batch is expected to be delivered in 2024.
