During the BBVA Open Summit, BBVA Chair Carlos Torres Vila emphasized the bank’s commitment to innovation and its recent focus on investing in venture capital funds with a view to driving decarbonization and supporting innovative entrepreneurship in its main markets. BBVA Spark, which was established a year ago, is designed to provide customized products, financing, and risk models for these new and innovative companies. In addition, BBVA has invested in eight funds to promote the energy transition and has made commitments to ten technology funds in Spain and Mexico. This investment strategy has evolved over the past year and a half to broaden its scope, diversify its markets and sectors, and position the bank in areas of high growth.
