GAIA is a new climate and blended finance platform that has received backing from public, private, and philanthropic organizations, including FinDev Canada and MUFG. The platform’s main objective is to mobilize private sector finance and support the transition of emerging markets to low-carbon and climate-resilient growth pathways. It is expected to benefit around 20 million people across 25 developing and emerging countries. GAIA’s focus on vulnerable jurisdictions aligns with the Paris Summit for a New Global Financing Pact’s goal to combat climate change, and 70% of its portfolio will be dedicated to climate adaptation projects.
