U.S. EPA Launches $7 Billion Program To Bring Solar Energy to Low-Income Households

The EPA is launching a grant competition called Solar for All, which will provide $7 billion to expand access to affordable, clean solar energy for low-income households in the US. The program, created by President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, will award up to 60 grants to states, territories, Tribal governments, municipalities, and eligible nonprofits to create and expand low-income solar programs that offer financing and technical assistance. The program aims to create good-quality jobs in communities that have been left behind, reduce pollution and improve air quality and public health outcomes, and combat climate change by transitioning to a clean-energy economy. The Solar for All program aligns with President Biden’s Justice40 Initiative, which aims to ensure that investments benefit marginalized and underserved communities.
