The HKMA co-organized Hong Kong FinTech Week 2023 with InvestHK this week, providing global participants with opportunities to collaborate, exchange ideas, and share fintech experiences. During the event, the HKMA announced initiatives to enhance Hong Kong’s fintech capabilities, including the launch of FPS x PromptPay QR Payment, exploring tokenization in the bond market, and progressing the e-HKD Pilot Programme. The “Fintech 2025” strategy has also made positive progress in promoting fintech adoption, developing central bank digital currencies, creating data infrastructure, nurturing fintech talent, and supporting the ecosystem with funding and policies. The Chief Executive of the HKMA emphasized the importance of adapting to rapid innovation and achieving the goals outlined in the “Fintech 2025” strategy.
