Australia to Develop Sustainable Finance Taxonomy, Labels for ESG Investment Products

Australia’s Treasury has proposed a Sustainable Finance Strategy to mobilize private capital for a net-zero economy. The strategy includes frameworks for financial disclosures, a sustainable finance taxonomy, and a labeling system for sustainable investments, with the goal of aligning investment with climate and sustainability goals. It prioritizes transparency, mandatory climate-related disclosures, and supports regulators. The proposal of the strategy is in line with the government’s aims to lead in sustainable finance markets and position Australia as a global sustainability leader.
