Court Sets Trial Date for Employing a Fraudulent Scheme in Securities Transactions in Illegal Short Selling Case

The trial date has been set by the Eastern Magistrates’ Court for Ms. Christine Yeung Tak Sum, who pleaded not guilty to charges of employing a fraudulent scheme in securities transactions and illegal short selling. This case marks the first prosecution by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) involving a defendant accused of using a fraudulent scheme in securities transactions related to illegal short selling. According to the SFC, between 27 May 2020 and 28 May 2020, Yeung, along with unidentified individuals, allegedly defrauded her broker, Aristo Securities Limited, by submitting a false settlement instructions form in her securities transactions. Yeung has been granted bail while awaiting trial.
