The world is falling behind in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to water and sanitation. Billions of people still lack access to safe drinking water, sanitation, and basic hygiene facilities. To meet SDG 6 by 2030, there is a need for increased investments, with the current level needing to be multiplied sixfold. Scaling up water investments will have numerous benefits, including improved health, climate-resilient agriculture, and enhanced water storage. The World Bank and the Global Water and Sanitation Partnership (GWSP) are working together to address these challenges, providing support, policy advice, and funding for sustainable and inclusive water projects.
